As a kid, both of my parents were into gardening (my father referred to it as landscaping). For my mother I think it appealed to her creativity. For my father, it appealed to his meticulous nature. I think this time in the nature of our backyard gave them each rejuvenation and momentary peace they needed from the cacophony of their marriage and responsibilities. I think they were able to connect (if even briefly) to the wonder of the moment and the beauty of themselves.
I look forward to the day when I will have the space to plant my own garden, right now there is the terrain of myself.
